Angel Wings Angel's Wings
Pleurocybella porrigens

This edible mushroom can be found during September and October in our coniferous forests, usually in loose clumps on the fallen trunks.  The wings are bright white when young, so are usually easy to spot.  They are only edible when young and are related to the oyster mushroom,
Pleurotus ostreatus.  However the oyster tends to grow on deciduous trees and is fleshier.  Angel wings are also much thinner, to the point of being transparent.  When the light shines right, it shines through them.  When they age, they darken and are no longer edible.
