This is a very edible mushroom and highly sought. They can cause allergic reactions in some people, so caution is advised when you try them. Its color is usually purplish, but can even lean towards pink. This is a widely diverse mushroom which grows in both deciduous and coniferous forests, usually in groups. Be advised that members of the cortinarius family also have purplish mushrooms and these can be poisonous. Be sure you actually have found wood blewitts.
