Witch's Butter Witch's Butter
Tremella mesenterica

There are those who do pick and cook Witch's Butter, but most mushroom harvesters leave it alone.  It is not that tasty and there is a trick to cooking them so they do not simply drool into a liquid.  Some people cook them in soups, but the majority find this mushroom to be a very poor edible. They are usually found on dead wood after good rains.  If it is dry they tend to shrivel up and turn dark only to return again with the rain.
